Autograph collecting has its own unique way of categorizing various items. You will see these abbreviations and terms appear in dealer catalogs.
What makes an autograph valuable? DEMAND is the most important factor in deciding the value of an autographed item. Autograph collectors have to be willing to pay a price for an item. Otherwise it has no value. SCARCITY of course plays a part in determing value, but there are many scarce items in the hobby that have little or no demand, and thus little or no value for autograph collectors. When the demand outstrips the supply, prices will tend to rise. CONDITION is also of course a major factor in determining value. Clean items with no damage will always command collectors interest.
